GGOA's first new survey has now closed - but the site is already giving readers the chance to vote on another hot Omiya Ardija topic. And Squirrels fans have spoken on the continuing controversy surrounding the club's coach after the dismissal at the beginning of August of Robert Verbeek.
Supporters have been voting here on GGOA for their preferred Omiya coach - and the current man in charge, former chief scout Satoru Sakuma, received a huge thumbs down from the Squirrel Nation. No-one at all registered any support for Sakuma, not even after his team's stunning victory over deadly local rivals Urawa Reds on Saturday.
But Verbeek is not a popular option, either: fewer than one in three of those who voted would have been happy to see the Dutchman still in charge at the club now. And with 71% of respondents preferring to see a third party (i.e. not Sakuma or Verbeek) as coach, it is clear that supporters continue to be unhappy as to how things are being run. Whatever happens at the end of this vital season, fans want changes to be made at Omiya Ardija and it is important that the mistakes of 2007 are not repeated if Omiya are to move forward.
And now, GGOA has a new question for Squirrels fans to consider and vote on - the most fundamental point of all. Do you think that Omiya Ardija will still be in J1 for the 2008 season? Can Urawa goal hero Hiroshi Morita help them avoid relegation and remain a top flight club, or will Sakuma be unable to lead the team out of the drop zone?
