Omiya Ardija's new signing Leandro has finally commenced pre-season training with his team-mates, his arrival in Japan having been delayed by visa difficulties. Administrative hold-ups also seem likely to impact upon striker Enilton's ability to participate in preparations, both in Saitama and in the forthcoming trip to Guam.
But the 25-year-old defender has already impressed in training with his attitude, sharpness and an ability to read the game - characteristics which will definitely be required by a Squirrels defence depleted by the departure during the close season of Toninho and Yukio Tsuchiya, both of whom possessed a wealth of J-League experience. Leandro looks to get forward and pass the ball and indeed is thought to be particularly attacking in his outlook, having notched up no fewer than eight assists last season for his Brazilian club Nautico.
