Omiya (2nd Half) Express
After quite an appalling 1st half defensive performance where we were very lucky to be just 1 goal adrift we were immeasurably better in the 2nd half. All the defenders were poor and didn't understand the rather peculiar formation. Although Chopper got pulled at half time I thought Okuno had an absolute shocker - he was all over the place.
Although we started brightly in the second half we got lucky - an own goal from a cross and a harsh sending off from an over-officious ref certainly helped. Cool headed finishes from the impressive Daigo and ever reliable Toninho made for an impressive scoreline that looked completely unrealistic at half time.
As for the new players I thought Hato looked good going forward (he can cross) but he gets pulled out of position too much. Chopper looked uncomfortable at left back and although he's quite assured on the ball he also looks shaky. Yoshiyuki is a willing runner but didn't stand out. Martinez was off the pace and I don't think it was co-incidental that we were more threatening when Sakurai came on - he played excellently and caused panic in the tiring Chiba defence. Daigo performed most impressively and was given man of the match. If we play consistently like we did in the second half the Omiya Express will be stopping at stations such as Top Six Central!

WOW!
Great game for us...........we dominated the second half. Aratani is still not great. Hisanaga was tentative and slow and Tsuchiya was lost but I think that can be attributed to unfamiliarity with the system. The Kobayashis were awesome.......especially Daigo's free kicks, Speedy showed me signs of something good to come and Sakurai probably had his most effective game in orange. Chikara was in a bad mood all game, Toninho looked like Toninho.

Communication breakdowns but not anything to panic about. I was most impressed with the execution of plays, last year it seemed like we were just trying to get a lucky bounce or a fluke breakaway and then defend but this game there were definite plays, good discipline on offense and nice passing. It seemed like it clicked for them.

I thought the second yellow on Sato was a bit harsh. that ref really seemed to love himself alot. They probably shouldn't have been a man down but hey, after some of the garbage we put up with last year, I'll take it.

Miura is completely in Davidson's head.......wide open shot and tries to pass........his confidence is gone, I think.

Great start though.......did we score 4 in a game last year. I know we didn't score 4 in all of October.......was 3 the most?

Great to be back and greetings to all Ardija fans everywhere!
I thought the JEF Chiba game was fantastic!
OK, a dodgy first half, but Omiya pulverised JEF in the second and I thought it could have been 5 or 6 by the end.
The first time that Omiya have scored 4 in the J1, I think.
"Chopper" Tsuchiya was OK, I thought. A few misuderstandings at the back, but it was his first game.
Generally a solid performance. Looks a good defender and
willing to attack. May get a few cards though.
Sakurai was brilliant and made a big difference.
Lots of ideas and trickery from the energetic Fujimoto; he's a pleasure to watch.
On this second half performance...definitely top 10.

Like the new page Furtho: great to see so many hits from around the world!
Just one negative: would like to see the subject displayed on the blog entries.

13,000 was a great attendance. Even Saitama Stadium was beginning to pulse Orange! Will the new Omiya Park be big enough? It will certainly be rocking.

Crusher
Welcome back, Crusher - good to hear from you again and glad you like the new look here. Unfortunately it isn't possible to include the Comment title in the blog template (well, it probably IS possible, but I personally have no idea how to do it), but given that that's the only downside as far as I'm aware, I think we can all live with it.

First time that Omiya have scored four in the league for a lot longer than you would imagine, in fact. Bring on Fukuoka.
