It's packed with controversy and just plain wrongness from my perspective, OF. Leandro and Fujimoto actually get A grades? The centre of the back four does seem less rock solid than last year, although obviously there is a change of emphasis when compared with the whole team and how they play.
What's particularly striking to me is how weak Omiya are down the wings. The amount that gets created by good wide play by the people who are supposed to do that kind of thing - let's say normally Fujimoto, Daigo, Murayama and Hato - is pretty pitiful (Daigo's confidence in particular looks to me to be shot to pieces). Conversely Kota actually looks half-decent when he is out on the wings; he's still quick and has something of an eye for a through pass, although what he isn't is a good finisher.
So much is based around the possibility of Denis or Pedro producing a bit of unpredictable magic, but the way that the team is actually set up to play bears fruit on very few occasions.
Also, what has happened to the Omiya team of 2004 that basically got promoted off the back of Bare's goals and the ability to score consistently from set plays? In the last couple of years we seem to have become a team that almost never gets a goal from a corner or free kick.
Churlish to complain about being seventh in the league, of course, but the difference between a lot of teams in the middle of the division is very slight indeed (for example, if we had drawn at Gamba and lost at Kawasaki, we would now be 14th instead), so it is very difficult to feel that the Squirrels are in a comfortable position.
